Shimba Hills Day Trip
Shimba Hills day tour will enable you to escape from the heat of the coast up to the Shimba Hills National Park where you will enjoy a half day excursion before you return to your lodge.
The driver guide will pick you up from your hotel at 0600hrs and drive you to Shimba Hills, which is situated approximately 35km from Diani to arrive at the park gate at around 0630hrs.
Start enjoying the morning game drive and also visit Sheldrick Waterfalls at 1100hrs escorted by a game ranger.
Lunch will be served at Shimba Lodge where you have a chance to see animals at the water hole. Proceed for another game drive after lunch until 1500hrs before you head back to Diani Beach. Drop off at your hotel.
Shimba Hills National Reserve
The Shimba Hills National Reserve is a small National Reserve in the former Coast Province of Kenya, 33 km from Mombasa and 15 km from the coast. The reserve is an area of coastal rainforest, woodland and grassland. It is an important area for plant biodiversity – over 50% of the 159 rare plants in Kenya are found in the Shimba Hills, including some endangered species of cycad and orchids. Finally it is also a nationally important site for birds and butterflies. Shimba Hills contains Kenya’s only population of sable antelope. There are about 100 in the reserve.
